The HIV Clinical Fellowship is a joint program of HIVMA and the IDSA Foundation. The program supports noninfectious diseases physicians with gaining HIV clinical experience working with patient populations who have historically been medically underserved and/or marginalized. The goal of this program is to increase the number of physicians providing HIV care, with a focus on physicians whose experiences reflect the populations disproportionately impacted by the HIV epidemic. In addition, preference will be given to physicians interested in pursuing training and working in the Southern U.S. due to the limited availability of HIV experts and the disproportionate impact of HIV in the region with more than 50% of new HIV cases in the U.S. occurring in the region. The IDSA Foundation and HIVMA typically award grants to support one year of HIV clinical training to up to two fellows per year.
