Kaiser Permanente Northern California HIV Medicine Fellowship

 

This one year fellowship (with optional second year) provides in-depth clinical training in HIV medicine. Our goal is train clinicians for a diverse career in HIV medicine by developing outstanding skills in HIV primary care including management of antiretroviral therapy, drug resistance, and opportunistic infections. In addition, fellows will obtain skills in HIV prevention including management of pre-exposure prophylaxis and sexually transmitted infections. Moreover, fellows will gain experience in managing common comorbidities including viral hepatitis, anal dysplasia, substance use and mental illness. Core rotations will be within the multidisciplinary Kaiser Permanente Oakland and San Francisco HIV programs which treat over 4,000 HIV patients annually. Fellows will also rotate at community-based, public health and academic clinics locally and have an opportunity for a global health elective. In addition, fellows will have a structured didactic curriculum, journal club and close mentorship from a diverse faculty. As part of a large, integrated health system, fellows will have unique opportunities for research and quality improvement projects with the support of dedicated research staff in the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research.
