IDSA Statement on Global Fund Replenishment

IDSA and HIVMA are pleased that global efforts to end the HIV, tuberculosis and malaria epidemics received much needed investment at the seventh replenishment of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Governments and private donors have pledged a record amount of $14.25 billion to date. The Global Fund expects this investment will save 20 million lives, prevent 450 million new infections, strengthen global health and prevent future pandemics.

IDSA and HIVMA applaud the Administration’s and Congress’ commitment to global health through their pledge of $6 billion over the next three years, making the United States the largest government donor.

The Global Fund has saved more than 50 million lives since its inception in 2002. Continued support from public and private donors is needed to save tens of millions more.
